Our Studio
Studio Mez is a contemporary ceramics studio exploring the intersection of function, form, and feeling.
Every piece is crafted by hand in small batches, celebrating the natural textures, irregularities, and tones that emerge through the process.
Our work is inspired by the elements, by light and water, by stillness and motion, to create objects that blend seamlessly into daily life while holding a quiet sense of character.

The Artist
Zuee
My journey with clay began from a long-standing curiosity that led me to a beginner’s course at Clayworks, Mumbai, and later, a residency at Clayfingers in Kerala under the guidance of Haseena Suresh and Suresh Subramanian. In 2024, I dedicated myself fully to ceramics spending the year immersed in learning, experimenting, and refining my practice.

My work is mostly wheel-thrown, centered around functional forms with clean lines and quiet presence. I’m fascinated by the ceramic process—how every element, from touch and timing to temperature and air, leaves its mark on the piece.

Nature plays a big part in how I see and make; I often draw from organic textures, soft gradients, and the way light interacts with surface. I try to let that come through, sometimes subtly, sometimes more directly in the pieces I build.

Influenced by the Mingei movement, I value simplicity, honesty in form, and the beauty of use. I like to keep shapes minimal, allowing surfaces to carry emotion and story. I experiment freely with glazes, oxides, stains and make many of my own glazes to better understand and push how the material behaves. No two outcomes are ever the same, and that unpredictability is part of what keeps me coming back.
